The Courthouse Inn is located in the oldest brick building in Ohio and was once home to the law offices of Edward Stanton, the Secretary of War during the Civil War under Abraham Lincoln. It now houses four gorgeous bedrooms, each with handmade mattresses, fabulous oil paintings and sculptures, large comfortable bathrooms, and beautiful original architectural appointments.

We aspire to have some of the finest food on planet Earth. Our food is vegetarian, but very recognizable, like vegetable lasagna, stuffed vegetables, eggplant parmigiana, and macaroni and cheese. European cheeses and the finest San Marzano tomatoes with the DOP label, known as the finest in the world, are just a sampling of our quality ingredients. Our produce is organic, local and farm to table…and our desserts are divine.

We have a full coffee bar – coffee, cappuccino, tea, and hot chocolate, all par excellence. We use the best ingredients available daily…just taste and you’ll be addicted.

It’d be fair to say that The Courthouse Inn is a jewel of a building, which perhaps explains part of its appeal for veteran jewelry designer Renee Lewis. Located in Lisbon, Ohio, near Lewis’s hometown, the brick edifice has a history that rivals that of any structure in the country—it was built in 1802 when Lisbon was on the frontier of the American west, its original deed was signed by both Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, three former presidents including Abraham Lincoln have stayed there, and it served as witness to Lewis and Clark’s departure for their famous expedition. So when the oldest building in the state of Ohio was set to be demolished in 2000, Lewis found that she couldn’t sit idly by.

A copper-top bar, hand-made floor tiles, rich wood on the inside and jade stone tables and chairs outside, the attention to detail is amazing. Built in 1802, the Courthouse Inn on Main Street in Lisbon is the oldest brick building in Ohio.

Traveling an hour outside Stark County to go eat at a small-town vegetarian restaurant might sound like a crazy idea. But that’s how I spent a recent Sunday afternoon, and I’m glad I did. The Courthouse Inn and Restaurant in Lisbon opened this winter in the oldest brick building in Ohio, following a years long renovation. The decor is a mix of exposed wood beam, distressed brick, glitzy bejeweled walls and copper-topped tables. It’s beautiful.

The Courthouse Inn & Restaurant on West Lincoln Way adjacent to the Columbiana Courthouse is the oldest brick building in Ohio Built by Jacob Picking in 1803 as a hotel and inn, the building has a long and storied past.
